Tile Selections

Hello to all!

Thanks for checking out our blog here at Level Up Tile & Flooring. In reference to Tile Selections it is always a great idea to check with your tile installer to ensure that your tile selection will work for the application. For example when installing tile in a backsplash area, there are several things to consider. One of course is the design and it is always my recommendation to consider your countertops. If your countertops are very busy with veins, it is our recommendation to use a simple tile pattern that will not clash with your countertops. Most mosaic sheets and smaller tiles will produce more grout joints which can clash with your countertops. Functionality in a backsplash area is also important. The dimensions or size of the tile will need to be considered to ensure that the cuts along the top of the cabinets are not very small. Maintenance of the backsplash is also worth considering, for example marble and cement tiles will need to be sealed in order to prevent staining. Porcelain tiles have great durability because they are heated at a higher temperature. Ceramic tiles will also work in a backsplash application. When selecting tile you also want to consider your grout selection. Your installer can assist with the areas in your backsplash that will need edging, such as tile pencil, Schluter edging (metal or plastic) and bullnose. As the tile industry evolves there are several new types of tiles that are available. We can give recommendations for great places to shop. If you need assistance please feel free to let us know.

Thanks for reading and have a blessed day!
